Presentation at the 36th Annual Conference of the Japan Society of Material Cycles and Waste Management

From September 17 (Wed) to 19 (Fri), 2025, the 36th Annual Conference of the Japan Society of Material Cycles and Waste Management was held at Nagoya University’s Higashiyama Campus.
On September 18 (Thu), JET Inc. and Shimose Microbial Laboratory jointly presented the results of their collaborative research titled “Exploration and Identification of Microbial Communities for Rapid Fermentation and Drying of Organic Waste.”

Using JET’s ERS(Environmental Recycling System), livestock manure and other organic waste can be rapidly converted into reusable resources through microbial activity. The system operates under reduced pressure with agitation, activating and cultivating indigenous microorganisms at around 60°C–65°C. This process enables the decomposition of organic matter in a short time—without producing odor or wastewater—and further drying reduces the volume by approximately 80%, while generating a uniform and high-quality product. The resulting material can be used as fertilizer, feed, or fuel, and is already applied in various fields such as municipal waste treatment, livestock management, and general waste recycling.

This presentation focused particularly on how microorganisms behave and proliferate under reduced-pressure and heated conditions, along with verification results on the processing time of food waste using the ERS system.

Based on the new insights and challenges gained through discussions at the conference, JET will continue to advance its research and contribute to an even wider range of fields.
