JET’s Mobile Rendering Unit Featured on JVM NEWS
On September 17, 2025, JVM NEWS, a veterinary news website operated by Buneido Publishing Co., Ltd. (Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo), published an article introducing JET’s mobile rendering unit.
JVM NEWS provides specialized information on veterinary science, including academic conferences, industry news, and recent research findings.
The article reported on the 66th National Conference on Livestock Hygiene Service Performance, held by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) from September 11 to 12, 2025.
During a session featuring briefings from MAFF-related organizations, four speakers presented.
One of them was Dr. Masato Asano from the Crisis Management Division of the Animal Quarantine Service.
He explained the newly deployed mobile rendering unit.
The unit uses patented technology from JET Inc.’s ERS (Environmental Recycling System).
ERS is a rapid fermentation and drying resource recovery system developed and manufactured by JET.
In March 2025, the system was deployed as the fifth mobile rendering unit.
It was installed at the Chubu Airport Branch of the Animal Quarantine Service.
In his presentation, Dr. Asano compared the unit with conventional systems.
He noted that it requires a larger installation area and transportation vehicle.
He also explained that carcasses are not physically crushed before sterilization.
This design reduces the risk of unheated meat fragments scattering into the surrounding area.
In response to questions from the audience, he stated that there is almost no noticeable odor during the heat treatment process.
The JVM NEWS article cited JET’s press release issued on May 13, 2025.
It reported that carcasses can be processed whole, one animal at a time, without cutting.
They are converted into slurry in approximately two hours.
After input, the internal temperature of the ERS chamber reaches 80°C to 99°C.
The system was confirmed to meet all requirements set by the Animal Quarantine Service.
These include infectivity elimination performance, processing capacity, and safety standards.
