JET Nagaoka Laboratory Established to Strengthen Material Evaluation and Demonstration for ERS Technology
JET Inc. has established the “JET Nagaoka Laboratory” in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture, with the aim of advancing research and development of ERS technology and expanding its application scope.
At this laboratory, JET will verify the feasibility of processing diverse materials using ERS technology and conduct characterization and application development of post-processed outputs. Through these efforts, JET aims to enhance resource circulation technologies and accelerate their social implementation.
Background
Since 2018, JET has been conducting joint research with Nagaoka University, focusing on the analysis of heavy metal behavior in waste materials and characterization through thermal analysis.
In advancing resource circulation, it is not sufficient to determine whether materials can be processed; it is equally important to scientifically evaluate how processed outputs can be utilized as valuable resources.
Against this backdrop, JET established the Nagaoka Laboratory as a specialized hub dedicated to material evaluation and application verification for ERS technology.
Research Activities
At the JET Nagaoka Laboratory, JET will assess whether new types of materials can be processed using ERS technology, analyze material properties before and after processing, and evaluate potential applications.
The main research activities include:
- Chemical composition analysis before and after processing
(evaluation of applicability as fertilizers and feed) - Evaluation of energy characteristics through thermal analysis
(measurement of combustion properties and calorific value for fuel use) - Analysis of heavy metal behavior and safety assessment
In addition, to enhance the added value of processed outputs, JET will also examine the following post-processing methods:
- Molding and property enhancement through hot pressing
- Functionalization through chemical treatment
- Storage stability evaluation through time-dependent change analysis
Through these initiatives, JET aims to go beyond mere processing technology and realize “design including end-use applications.”
